Publish your book to Amazon KDP

Amazon KDP accepts ePub for Kindle eBooks — and Pinery exports a production-ready ePub 3 with one click. Here is the full path from manuscript to the Kindle store.

1. Preview your book in Pinery

  1. Press ⌘R to open Design and skim every chapter with your stylesheet applied.
  2. Confirm images, links, and the {{TOC}} table of contents render correctly (see Linking).
  3. Optional: open the Kindle preview mode (next to the eye control) to check line length and contrast on e-ink.

The Kindle view is a simulator, not Amazon's Kindle app. Do a final spot-check in Kindle Previewer or on a real device after uploading.

2. Export ePub 3 from Pinery

  1. Choose File → Export (or press ⌘E) and pick ePub.
  2. Optionally embed fonts from your stylesheet so your typography travels with the book.
  3. Save the .epub file.

Pinery updates cross-chapter links for the ePub package and uses ePub-appropriate roles for footnotes, so the file is store-ready as exported — no post-processing needed.

3. Upload to KDP

  1. Sign in at kdp.amazon.com and choose Create → Kindle eBook.
  2. Fill in title, description, and keywords (KDP gives you seven keyword slots — specific long-tail phrases beat single words).
  3. In Kindle eBook Content, upload the .epub Pinery exported.
  4. Use Amazon's online previewer to confirm the layout, then set pricing and publish.

Does AI-assisted writing need to be disclosed?

KDP asks whether your book contains AI-generated content. Amazon distinguishes:

  • AI-generated — content the AI created and you published with minimal changes. This must be disclosed.
  • AI-assisted — content you created yourself, using AI tools to edit, refine, or error-check. Amazon states this does not need to be disclosed.

Prose is built for the assisted workflow: it proposes changes as reviewable diffs and nothing lands in your manuscript without your approval. How you answer KDP's question depends on how you used it — if Prose drafted whole chapters you kept substantially as-is, that leans AI-generated. Review Amazon's content guidelines and answer honestly.

What about paperback (print)?

KDP print books need a print-ready PDF sized to your trim with bleed. Pinery's PDF export is designed for digital reading and sharing (review copies, direct sales, ARCs) — it is not a print-with-bleed pipeline today. For a print edition, export ePub and use a print formatting step, or watch the changelog as export options grow.
