Publish your book to Apple Books

Apple Books takes standards-compliant ePub 3 files — exactly what Pinery exports. Since you are already writing on a Mac, this is the shortest distance from manuscript to store.

1. Preview your book in Pinery

  1. Press ⌘R to open Design and skim every chapter with your stylesheet applied.
  2. Confirm images, links, and the {{TOC}} table of contents render correctly (see Linking).
  3. Optional: open the Kindle preview mode (next to the eye control) to check line length and contrast on e-ink.

2. Export ePub 3 from Pinery

  1. Choose File → Export (or press ⌘E) and pick ePub.
  2. Optionally embed fonts from your stylesheet so your typography travels with the book.
  3. Save the .epub file.

Pinery updates cross-chapter links for the ePub package and uses ePub-appropriate roles for footnotes, so the file is store-ready as exported — no post-processing needed.

3. Upload to Apple Books

Two common routes:

  • Apple Books for Authors — sign up free at authors.apple.com, create the book listing, and upload your ePub. Sales reporting and pricing are managed in the same place.
  • An aggregator (Draft2Digital, PublishDrive, …) — one upload distributes to Apple Books plus Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and other stores at once, in exchange for a revenue share.

Selling on Apple Books requires a paid books account (free to set up) with banking and tax info — allow a little lead time before your launch date.

Quality check on a real device

Open the exported ePub in the Books app on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad before submitting — drag the file onto Books or use File → Open. What you see there is very close to what buyers get.
